Dan Schmitz has a love of nature and wildlife. He has been walking the trails of Harrington Beach State Park for over 20 years; it is here in the silence of nature that he feels God’s presence. He started taking snapshots on his phone and soon realized his photography and love of nature came together to create beautiful artwork. Three years ago, he invested in his first “real” camera and he began sharing the beauty he captures while walking the park throughout the year on his Facebook page.  The “likes” popped up and multiplied!!  He soon realized that others loved the amazing things he catches behind the lens and waited for his posts.

Enter me, Shelli Obbink, one of Dan’s Facebook friends and admirer of his work. About a year ago I reached out to Dan, after many, many “likes” to his photo postings, to ask if he would be okay with me using a photo or two to create gifts for family and friends.  

The beauty in his shots seemed purely God-given and only needed the Word added for inspiration. An amateur, at best, I started playing around with minor editing and adding inspirational scripture quotes to his photography. After creating a couple of canvas gifts, I decided to show Dan how beautiful his work turns out in print with some added inspiration.  Dan and I share a love of God’s beautiful creation. Being a bit of a dreamer, I sheepishly suggested that maybe we could come together and use our talents to share God’s love through the beauty of His creation and His scripture message.

He sees it best behind the lens; I add my crafty creativity to interject a message with inspirational quotes or scripture.  Hence, our friendship and business venture began.
